Rockwell – Content EP [Obsolete Medium]

Die Welle an immer neuen Labels nimmt kein Ende und auch Rockwell gehört jetzt, relativ überraschend, zu den Labelbetreibern. Benannt nach seinem Album auf Shogun Audio Obsolete Medium sorgt der Kreativkopf mit der Content EP selbst für das erste Release.

Im Fokus steht, so Rockwell, zu ihm gut passende punkige DIY-Attitüde:

Everything you see from the music and artwork, to all the content and promotional materials was made by me. This process of regaining autonomy over my output has creatively reinvigorated my outlook regarding who I am and what I have to offer through my music. It was important to me to roll up my sleeves and completely immerse myself in the production of this record. DIY.

Die Musik der Content EP ist die Fortführung des Sounds den Rockwell bereits auf seiner User EP für Shogun Audio begonnen hat. Knackige Drums, rollende Basslines und satter Sound zeichnen Rockwells neue Entwicklung aus. Dabei wird es mal härter wie auf Belief Systems, mal funky wie bei CONTENT oder auch mal emotional wie bei Waiting_4. Einzig Buss It, ein Feature mit Lakeway halbiert den Rhythmus und wobbelt aufgedreht vor sich hin. Hoffentlich lässt Katalognummer Zwei nicht allzu lange auf sich warten.
